Job summary

GM Defense, based in Warren, MI, seeks a Chassis/Structures Engineer to spearhead the structural design of lunar rovers and mobility systems. You will adapt automotive chassis and EV concepts for lunar conditions, focusing on rugged durability and high-reliability performance.

You will own end-to-end rover structures, drive 3D CAD development, and collaborate with thermal, power, GNC, and software teams to ensure robust validation and seamless integration in a fast-paced space hardware

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.
• 5+ years of product engineering experience in automotive, defense, aerospace, or related field.
• Experience as Design Release Engineer or technical lead with end-to-end subsystem responsibility.
• CAD/CAE and PLM usage with change management and part release processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end development of rover structures and deployment systems.
• Interface with thermal, power, GNC and software teams for cross-functional integration.
• Define validation tests and drive design release and risk management.
• Mentor engineers and lead technical direction for subsystems.
