Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design and analyze flight hardware for lunar and cislunar missions. You will create 3D models, packaging for electronics, and perform detailed thermal and structural analyses to ensure reliability under launch and space environments.

The role involves collaborat ion with RF and electrical teams, conducting tests, and producing drawings and documentation for build and verification. A BS in engineering and 5+ years in aerospace hardware are required.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering required.
  • 5+ years designing aerospace mechanical structures or electronics packaging.
  • Experience with static structural, modal, random vibration, and thermal analysis.
  • Proficient with 3D CAD (Creo preferred) and FEA tools (Ansys preferred).
  • Knowledge of solder fatigue and GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
  • Strong communicator with ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Self-directed with ability to balance competing priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to cross-disciplinary design in a fast-paced environment.
  • Lead mechanical structure and electronics packaging design for flight hardware.
  • Perform thermal and structural analysis; support development tests and reviews.
  • Create 3D CAD models, drawings, and assembly documentation.
  • Plan and conduct vibration, thermal vacuum, and shock tests.
  • Verify design with test data and iterate as needed.
  • Collaborate with RF/electrical teams for integrated packaging.
