Job summary

Vast is seeking a Staff Lunar Environments Engineer to lead the characterization of lunar hazards and translate them into concrete design requirements across the lunar ecosystem. You will work with Systems Architects and hardware engineers to ensure habitat and surface systems withstand regolith, dust, radiation, MMOD, and thermal conditions.

You will establish standards, guide verification methods, and mentor engineers as the Lunar program scales, leveraging NASA data and prior lunar projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline with space/environmental focus.
• 8+ years in space environments engineering or planetary surface science.
• Direct lunar experience and ability to translate hazards into design requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead characterization of lunar environmental hazards and drive design requirements.
• Embed risk into end-to-end architecture with Systems Architect and hardware engineers.
• Define environment-specific standards and verification methodologies for the Lunar program.
