Job summary

Vast seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer, Lunar, to join our Long Beach team and drive end-to-end lunar hardware development. You will own multiple subsystems, from concept through flight release, across power, thermal, life support, and structures, closely coordinating with NASA-aligned teams.

The role demands 6+ years in space mechanical design, strong CAD skills (NX), and the ability to work across disciplines to deliver flight-ready hardware on a fast-paced program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field relevant to aerospace or mechanical engineering.
• 6+ years of experience in mechanical design for space applications with hardware ownership.
• Hands-on CAD proficiency and experience taking designs from concept to flight release.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, fluid schematics, and electrical diagrams.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication to non-technical partners.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end lunar engineering projects (solar and battery power stations, gas and fluids pallets, airlocks, nodes, habitation modules).
• Lead trade studies interfacing with power, thermal, avionics, life support, and industrial design teams.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts and systems architects to align concepts with NASA Moon Base architecture.
• Develop and maintain CAD models (NX or equivalent) from concept to fabrication and release.
• Drive fabrication, assembly, and integration with manufacturing and assembly teams.
