Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Fluid Mechanical Design Engineer III to lead cryogenic fluid system design for lunar transporters. The role covers lifecycle ownership from concept through vehicle integration in deep space, lunar orbit, and surface environments.

You will specify requirements, drive design reviews, procure components, and document verification packages, leveraging tools like ANSYS, Thermal Desktop, and CREO. Relocation is provided; up to 15% travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years designing aerospace propulsion and cryogenic fluid systems.
• Expertise in cryogenic components (valves, regulators, pumps).
• Proficiency in cryogenic fluid system sizing analysis and selection.
• Experience creating and interpreting P&IDs and fabrication drawings.
• Experience in cryogenic fluid system from concept through vehicle integration.

Responsibilities

• Define & Own Requirements– lead component requirement definition for lunar environments and evaluate solutions.
• Drive Design Reviews– present detailed designs to cross-functional teams and defend decisions.
• Specify & Procure– partner with suppliers for lunar transporter materials and components.
• Execute the Full Cycle– from design refinement through build, test, delivery.
• Document Excellence– create engineering drawings, P&IDs, verification packages.
• Lead Problem Solving– perform analyses in lunar thermal/vacuum environments.
