Job summary

Marvin's Talladega Lumber Yard is seeking a part-time Yard Associate to assist customers, unload and load merchandise, and support deliveries at our on-site yard.

You will operate forklifts and pallet jacks, stock the yard and warehouse, and help drivers with deliveries to homeowners and job sites while ensuring accuracy in the POS system.

This hourly position emphasizes safety, teamwork, and reliable service; previous lumber/materials knowledge is a plus, and a high school diploma is preferred.

Qualifications

• Forklift certification and ability to operate warehouse equipment.
• Delivery experience and strong customer service skills.
• Basic math, reading, writing, and speaking skills required.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers or professionals in a friendly manner.
• Operate forklift to merchandise and stock yard and warehouse.
• Assist truck drivers in delivery of merchandise to homeowners and job sites.
• Load materials into customers’ vehicles or company delivery vehicles based on POS records.
• Develop expertise related to operation of forklifts, pallet jacks, and related equipment.
• Unload incoming freight and prevent damage to goods and equipment.
• Build loads and prepare materials for delivery; ensure accuracy in records.
• Identify shortages and report to store management.
• Maintain yard and warehouse in clean, orderly condition.
• Assist cashiers or store staff with customers, as needed.
• Support contractor sales counter functions as necessary.
