Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED preferred but not required.
  • Certification in lumber grading preferred, however non-certified graders will be considered if in training.
  • No minimum experience required, but manufacturing or lumber experience preferred.
  • 3-5 years of related experience in lumber grading is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of basic math preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

  • Grade and sort softwood SPF and SYP per TP/SPIB inspection requirements.
  • Move and secure lumber products and materials according to instructions.
  • Stack finished products per predetermined bundle sizes and/or customer requirements.
  • Label material by type, size and count per specifications.
  • Apply individual tags to material before/after treating/production.
  • Use a staple gun and troubleshoot equipment.
  • Band, bundle and secure material, including attaching corner protectors and loading sticks.
  • Follow instructions for stacking material properly and according to company policy and customer requirements.
  • Ensure correct quantities and material are strapped, labeled before leaving the work area.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of tags and report any problems or discrepancies to supervisor.
  • Record production on production sheets.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Assist other work areas moving material, loading and unloading material carts.
  • Participate in safety, CI and other programs and meetings.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities
  • Grades and sorts of softwood SPF and SYP in accordance with third party TP / SPIB inspection requirements
  • Moves and secures lumber products and other materials according to instructions
  • Stacks finished products according to predetermine bundle sizes and/or customer requirements
  • Labels material based on type, size and count, and following specifications
  • Applies individual tags to material before/after treating/production
  • Uses a staple gun and troubleshoots equipment
  • Bands, bundles and secures material, including attaching corner protectors and loading sticks
  • Follows instructions for stacking material properly and according to company policy and customer requirements
