Job summary

QXO is seeking a Lumber Estimator to prepare accurate cost estimates, proposals, and project documentation for construction and building product projects. You will work closely with Project Managers, Purchasing, and other estimating staff to ensure requirements are clearly understood and executed across nationwide projects.

The role requires strong mathematical and analytical skills, the ability to read construction drawings, and proficiency with estimating software.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate cost estimates, proposals, and project documentation for multi-family and commercial projects.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Purchasing, and Estimating staff to ensure project requirements are understood.
  • Review specifications to determine product selections and pricing with leadership.
  • Prepare shop drawings, product samples, and project submittals as required.
  • Coordinate job orders, vendor quotes, and project billing with internal teams.
  • Interface with customers to field questions and gather information.

What You'll Do

The Lumber Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and timely cost estimates, proposals, and project documentation to support construction and building product projects. This role works cross-functionally with sales, project management, purchasing, and customers to ensure all project requirements are clearly understood and executed. Works directly with Project Managers, Purchasing, and other Administrative and Estimating Staff. This position coordinates, plans, and completes accurate proposals, submittals, and project orders for Multi-family and commercial projects across the country.

  • Assist in assessing and preparing plan material takeoffs, quote requests & preparation, proposal write-ups and submittal to General Contractors.
  • Communicate with Project Managers and reviews specification documents to determine appropriate product selections and pricing.
  • Prepare shop drawings, product samples, and project submittals in accordance with related job requirements.
  • Coordinate job orders and assist in determining supply and material requirements including vendor quote solicitations, order write-ups, and project billing.
  • Confer with customers to field incoming questions or seek additional information.
  • Interface with Leadership to review current conditions.
  • Maintain a safe work environment.
  • Maintain commitment to the company’s Quality Statement.
  • Make occasional local pickups and deliveries with a company pickup truck as needed.
