Job Overview

Summary/Objective
The Lube Technician diagnoses and performs quality light mechanical services on customer and inventory vehicles with efficiency and accuracy in accordance with dealership and manufacturer/factory standards.

Essential Functions

  1. Performs vehicle inspections, troubleshooting and testing for light mechanical services to determine required or recommended repairs as required and in accordance with company policy.
  2. Diagnoses malfunctions and performs the necessary repairs including, but not limited to, replacing parts and components as required.
  3. Performs tire services including, but not limited to, rotate, replace, mount, and balance.
  4. Performs preventative maintenance including, but not limited to, lubrication, fluid replacements, coolant services, oil change, filter service, and brake adjustments.
  5. Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
  6. Verifies vehicle serviceability and ensures quality repairs the first time by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems as required.
  7. Ensures customer vehicles are kept clean during repair process.
  8. Contains costs by using warranty.
  9. Evaluates service and parts options for repairs as required.
  10. Communicates with supervisor, team leader or Service Advisor and/or Dispatcher if additional work is needed.
  11. Aids Service Advisor as needed to write work orders, conduct test rides, and interact with the customer to guarantee customer satisfaction.
  12. Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt of parts and supplies.
  13. Maintains a clean, efficient work area and assists in keeping the shop neat and organized.
  14. Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order in accordance with operating procedures.
  15. Understands the terminology of the automobile industry and keeps abreast of industry technology changes.
  16. Follows all attendance and punctuality standards with adherence to timekeeping standards.
  17. Follows the Company Code of Business Ethics and Conduct.
  18. Understands and follows all work rules and procedures and follows lawful directions from supervisors.
  19. Upholds the company's non-disclosure and confidentiality policies and agreements.
  20. Maintains a professional appearance in accordance with company policy.
  21. Attends pertinent training on request.
  22. Attends company meetings as required.
  23. Other duties as assigned.

Work Environment/Physical Demands
Will primarily work in an automotive shop environment. Workspace is covered but may involve various weather conditions such as heat and cold as well as safety hazards due to the nature of work. May experience loud noise on a regular basis. Medium/Heavy Work - Will lift over 50 pounds with assistance device required and/or frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to or over 35 pounds with assistance device available as needed. This position will require the employee to be standing for prolonged periods of time. This position requires the ability to push, pull, climb, stoop, kneel, reach, grasp, and walk on a regular basis. This position involves repetitive motion. This position requires the ability to talk and hear.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Works evening, weekend, and holiday work hours as required.

Required Education and Experience
High school diploma or the equivalent and one year related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Education and Experience
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; and two year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications (Certification/Licenses/Registrations)
ASE Certification is preferred.

The essential functions of this position require a person to work with hazardous or flammable materials; AND/OR to complete tasks in which a lapse of attention could result in injury, including without limitation the operating, repairing, maintaining, or monitoring of heavy equipment, machinery, or motor vehicles.
