Job summary

Sterling Construction Company, Inc. seeks a Maintenance Technician in El Paso, TX to diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy equipment and vehicles. You will perform routine servicing, operate repair equipment, and support safety and efficiency on job sites.

A valid CDL and experience with diesel, hydraulic, and electrical systems are required. Join a team that emphasizes reliability, quality repairs, and ongoing learning.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent; 1–2 years of related experience or training.
• At least 1 year of experience with heavy construction equipment and vehicles.
• At least 1 year of experience with diesel fuel systems, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems.
• At least 1 year of experience performing field repairs.
• Physical ability to lift 50–100 lbs.
• Valid CDL is required.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair/rebuild all equipment and vehicles as determined by the Shop Manager.
• Repair vehicles and equipment according to schedules.
• Perform routine maintenance of equipment and vehicles as needed and on time.
• Operate construction equipment and vehicles to perform repairs.
• Perform miscellaneous welding to repair items not requiring a certified welder.
• Strive to maintain zero repeat/redo repairs.
• Clean equipment and vehicles during repairs.
• Maintain daily logs in a timely and organized fashion.
• May drive Lube Truck to fuel and service equipment in staff absences.
• May drive company pickup to get parts.
• Assist with small tool and equipment maintenance and repair as needed.
• Seek knowledge of new technologies/methods in truck and equipment maintenance.
• Recommend measures to Shop Manager to improve safety, production, equipment performance and repair quality.

Position Requirements

1. High school education; or up to two years related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. A minimum of 1 years of experience working on heavy construction equipment and vehicles
3. A minimum of 1 years of experience working with diesel fuel systems, hydraulic systems, electrical systems
4. A minimum of 1 years of experience performing field repairs
5. Be able to physically lift 50 – 100 LBS
6. Be able to regularly stand for long periods of time, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl
7. Specific vision abilities are required, which includes to have close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
8. Perform mathematical problems
9. Valid CDL is required.
