Job description

For our future state-of-the-art 600+ person cheese and whey manufacturing facility in Lubbock, TX, Leprino is seeking a Cheese Supervisor. We take pride in our vision to be the "world's best," which drives us to work harder, invest more, and continually innovate.

Leprino Foods broke ground on the $1 billion facility in summer 2022. The plant became operational in 2025 with Phase 1 and will be fully operational by 2026 with Phase 2. You will play a crucial role in creating a healthy work environment for our employees, fostering positive relationships and teamwork.

Job Duties
  1. Plans and schedules daily staffing needs to maximize labor efficiency and meet production requirements.
  2. Leads and coaches team employees in the Cheese Department, implementing programs in technical training, safety, quality, communication, performance recognition, and employee development to ensure engagement and productivity.
  3. Builds and fosters strong working relationships and a positive work environment within the team.
  4. Reinforces company and plant policies consistently and fairly.
  5. Ensures team employees complete all required training.
  6. Responds to employee questions and concerns.
  7. Supervises daily cheese shift operations to meet production standards and quality parameters.
  8. Achieves targeted production volumes.
  9. Determines equipment repair needs and initiates maintenance work orders to minimize downtime.
  10. Implements safety programs to ensure compliance and a safe work environment.
  11. Ensures work is performed safely and the workplace is free of hazards.
  12. Provides employees with training, equipment, and tools for safe job performance.
  13. Leads and demonstrates safe practices.
  14. Participates in safety investigations and corrective actions.
  15. Leads and executes the department's quality systems to meet quality goals.
  16. Oversees sanitation program effectiveness to meet food safety standards.
  17. Monitors operations and recommends improvements for labor efficiency, cost savings, and quality.
  18. Executes financial performance goals of the Cheese Department to deliver quality products at the lowest possible cost.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Dairy Science, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
  • Two (2) years of supervisory or managerial experience in a food, beverage, chemical, or pharmaceutical manufacturing facility.
  • Ability to perform shift work in a 24/7 operational plant.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food or Dairy Science, Food Technology, or Chemical Engineering, including four (4) years as a production supervisor in a dairy manufacturing setting.
