Job summary

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Special Education or equivalent.
• Licensed by the MA DESE as Special Education teacher (Severe/Moderate).
• Board Certified Behavior Analyst licensure preferred.
• Experience with autism spectrum, mental health, and challenging behavior in public schools.
• Willingness to attend evening meetings and provide in-home parent training.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct clinical consultation for identified caseload district-wide.
• Conduct behavioral, skill, functional, and home assessments to guide programming.
• Participate in team consults and parent clinics to train and support staff and parents.
• Train paraprofessionals in collaboration with special educators and school staff.
• Provide behavioral support using Functional Behavior Assessments and Positive Behavior Support strategies.
• Develop reliability, data collection, and accountability protocols for evidence-based practices.
• Create assessment protocols and criteria for direct service and fading of services.
• Participate in IEP meetings with parents and staff.
• Support workshops and procedures on behavior-related topics (FBAs, Prevention of Physical Restraint, BIPs).
• Take on Safety Care Trainer role to meet district training needs.
• Collaborate to implement interventions in the least restrictive setting.
• Serve on Student Wellbeing Teams (SWT).
• Provide behavioral support during crises with de-escalation and safe management.

Shrewsbury Public Schools is accepting applications for a Long Term Substitute Board Certified Behavior Analyst Clinical Coordinator, beginning with the 2026-2027 school year and lasting until January 2027.

The daily rate for this position is $280. This is a non-benefit eligible position.

This position reports to the Director of Counseling and Mental Health and is aligned with the clinical department. The primary function of this position will be to utilize and implement effective research-based practices to enhance the district’s educational programs.

Performance Responsibilities:

• Provide direct clinical consultation for identified caseload of students across the district experiencing social, emotional, and behavioral challenges.
• Conduct various assessments (behavioral, skill, functional, home) to help direct programming.
• Participate in team consult and parent clinics as necessary to provide training and clinical support to team members (including parents).
• Provide training to paraprofessionals in collaboration with special educators, school adjustment counselors, and school psychologists.
• Provide behavioral support to student support teams regarding student-specific programming using research-based practices, including Functional Behavior Assessments and the development of Positive Behavior Support programs.
• Work with the Director to develop consistent reliability, data collection, and accountability protocols to ensure the use of research-based practices.
• Develop assessment protocols, criteria for direct service delivery (1:1, therapies, etc.), and criteria for fading of direct support services.
• Participate in IEP meetings with parents, staff, and administrators as identified.
• Support the district’s efforts in developing, revising, and promoting workshops, training, and procedures for behaviorally related topics such as Functional Behavior Assessments, Prevention of Physical Restraint, Behavior Intervention Plans, etc.
• Support training needs of the district by taking on the role of Safety Care Trainer.
• Collaborate with teams to identify and implement interventions in the least restrictive setting.
• Member of building Student Wellbeing Teams (SWT).
• Provide behavioral support during student crises including utilization of verbal de-escalation, coregulation strategies, and physical as a last resort.

Preferred:

• Master’s degree in Special Education
• Licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as a Special Education teacher, Severe or Moderate License.
• Board Certified Behavior Analyst Licensure
• Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, staff, and parents.
• Experience working with students on the autism spectrum, mental health, and challenging behavior, etc. in a public-school setting.
• Flexibility to attend evening meetings and provide late afternoon/evening in-home support through parent training.
• Working knowledge of special education regulations/processes.
