Job summary

SpecialtyRx is a Long-Term Care pharmacy providing pharmaceutical services to long term care facilities and assisted living communities. The Pharmacist will evaluate medication orders for appropriateness, ensure correct dispensing and labeling, and collaborate with physicians and facility staff on therapy changes as needed.

The role requires a Licensed Illinois pharmacist with LTC experience preferred, strong analytical and communication skills, and excellent attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Licensed pharmacist in Illinois.
• Long-Term Care experience preferred.
• Hospital and Retail pharmacy experience a plus.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organization.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate medication orders for drug appropriateness, dosage, interactions and administration.
• Ensure medicines are dispensed with correct labeling.
• Recommend therapy changes to physicians and staff when needed.
• Maintain customers’ medical history and clinical data in the system.
• Investigate and resolve medication-related queries.
• Communicate with nursing staff, physicians and healthcare teams about medication questions.
• Supervise preparation of medicines.
• Maintain controlled drug records for stock control.
• Ensure proper security for medications.
• Perform on-call duties when required.
