RPh on the Go seeks a licensed pharmacist to support long-term care and mail order services during overnight shifts (9 pm–8 am, seven nights on/ seven off). You will dispense, counsel, and monitor medications, compound sterile preparations, and supervise technicians in a collaborative healthcare setting.

The role emphasizes patient safety, adherence, and communication with physicians and nurses. Texas license is required; prior LTC/mail-order experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Current Texas pharmacy license required.
  • Experience in long-term care and mail order settings strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in sterile compounding essential.
  • Ability to work overnight shifts as scheduled.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately accept and dispense prescription medications in compliance with legal requirements.
  • Monitor patient medication adherence and identify over-usage patterns.
  • Ensure prescribed medications are suitable and provide detailed patient counseling on use, potential reactions, and questions.
  • Maintain confidential and precise patient records and pharmacy documentation.
  • Offer consultative services on prescription and non-prescription medications, including dosing, storage, side effects, and interactions.
  • Deliver additional patient services such as smoking cessation guidance, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management.
  • Educate patients on the proper use and handling of medical devices like glucose meters and blood pressure monitors.
  • Compound medications for internal and external use and prepare sterile solutions following established protocols.
  • Supervise pharmacy support staff, including pharmacy technicians and clerks.
  • Manage pharmaceutical and medical supply inventory effectively.
  • Collaborate closely with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, and pharmacy interns to identify and resolve drug-related issues.

Job description

A dynamic opportunity is available for a licensed pharmacist to support long-term care and mail order pharmacy services during overnight shifts. This role offers a contract-to-hire arrangement with a schedule of seven nights on followed by seven nights off (9 pm to 8 am), spanning approximately 13 weeks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately accept and dispense prescription medications in compliance with legal requirements.
  • Monitor patient medication adherence and identify over-usage patterns.
  • Ensure prescribed medications are suitable and provide detailed patient counseling on use, potential reactions, and questions.
  • Maintain confidential and precise patient records and pharmacy documentation.
