Job summary

Nomura is seeking an LSET Trader in New York on the Global Markets desk. You will research, monitor, and oversee execution of daily trades for US Equities/Options with a low latency client base. Expect collaboration with traders, quants, and operations in a fast-paced desk environment.

The role requires experience with electronic trading platforms, FIX protocol, and risk monitoring. Strong communication skills and familiarity with DMA orders are essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience with electronic trading platforms and US equities.
  • Familiarity with FIX and binary protocols is required.
  • Track record in risk monitoring and escalation procedures.
  • Ability to communicate complex issues to non-technical stakeholders.
  • VBA experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage order flow and execute trades on an electronic platform.
  • Coordinate with support, operations, brokers, and PBs on allocations.
  • Monitor execution algorithms and assist quant clients to resolve issues.
  • Source liquidity by interacting with brokers and bank desks.
  • Generate ad hoc reports and maintain trading tools.
  • Upgrade spreadsheets and trading tools as needed.
  • Understand exchanges and ATS operations.
  • Provide real-time risk management of order flows and connectivity health.
  • Serve as a technical contact to investigate discrepancies and latency issues.
  • Work with OMS/EMS and FIX Protocol in front-to-back processes.
  • Understand US Equities/options trade lifecycle.
  • Translate technical issues for sales traders and institutional clients.

Overview- Job Description

As an LSET Trader you will research, monitor, and oversee the execution of daily trades with our low latency client base trading US Equities/Options. The ideal candidate will be a mid-level professional. Frequent interaction with traders, quants, operations, support, and senior management teams will be required so communication and collaboration skills are essential. This is a DESK role, previous exposure to electronic trading platforms are a must, the trader will be fielding daily inquiries about algos, smart order routers, and DMA orders. Familiarity with risk monitoring, risk management, and ability to follow escalation procedures are also key components to the role. Market structure knowledge and the ability to work with the exchanges across various FIX and binary protocols to trouble shoot client inquiries. Basic networking/technical knowledge is also a plus as well as experience with VBA.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage order flow and execute trades using an electronic trading platform.
  • Work closely with support, operations, brokers, and PB’s to assure proper trade allocations.
  • Monitor the behavior of execution algorithms and work with quant clients to resolve any issues.
  • Interact with brokers and bank dealing desks to source liquidity if needed.
  • Performs miscellaneous job related duties as assigned such as ad hoc report generation.
  • Maintain and upgrade existing spreadsheets and trading tools.
  • A strong understanding of how different exchanges and Alternative Trading Systems (ATSs) operate.
  • Providing real-time risk management order flows and connectivity health to detect and resolve technical "hiccups"
  • Acting as a high-level technical point of contact to investigate trade discrepancies, latency issues, or connection drops in a fast-paced "front-to-back" environment.
  • Hands-on experience with Order Management Systems (OMS), Execution Management Systems (EMS), and the FIX Protocol.
  • Knowledge of the US Equities/options "Trade Lifecycle"
  • The ability to translate complex technical issues into clear updates for non-technical stakeholders, such as sales traders or institutional clients
