Job summary

Mercy is seeking a licensed practical nurse to join the Surgical 3B unit in Missouri. You will apply the nursing process, ensure patient safety and confidentiality, and coordinate care with multiple departments.

The role supports new grads and experienced LPNs, with comprehensive benefits and weekend/night differential opportunities. The unit handles pre- and post-surgical care for GI, Urology, and ENT patients, with a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio during days and nights.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program.
• Current LPN license in the hiring state and maintain requirements.
• BLS certification or within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care using the nursing process under supervision.
• Coordinate patient care with other departments and maintain patient rights and confidentiality.
• Perform duties in alignment with Mercy standards and mission.
• Manage pre- and post-surgical patients on the Surgical 3B unit (GI/Urology/ENT) as assigned.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program; Consideration will be given for comparable education experience and successful licensure.
  Licensure: Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining a current LPN license within the hiring state in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all State Board of Nursing requirements
• Experience: Can be new or experienced LPN
• Certifications:
  • LPN-IV Certification issued by the Missouri State Board of Nursing.
  • Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire.
  • The Surgical 3B unit has 32 patient beds, with a nurse to patient ratio of 1-6 on days and nights. This unit is a fast-paced medical surgical telemetry floor which focuses on pre- and post-surgical patients, with a focus on GI, Urology and ENT surgeries. The Surgical 3B unit offers the opportunity to learn and perfect critical nursing skills such as:
    • Head to toe assessments
    • Telemetry monitoring
    • NG tubes
    • IV insertions
    • CBI's
    • Chest tubes, Trach and ostomy care
    • Drains
    • Wound Care
