Mercy is seeking an LPN to provide patient care during weekend 7p-7a shifts. The role involves delivering nursing care under supervision and coordinating with interdisciplinary teams to uphold patient rights and safety.

The position supports LPNs with opportunities for growth, education assistance, and competitive weekend differentials. Licensure, BLS, and IV certification are emphasized, with orientation and integration into the Surgical 3B unit focus.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program.
• Must obtain and maintain a current LPN license in the hiring state.
• BLS certification required; IV certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care under supervision.
• Coordinates patient care with other departments.
• Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information.
• Works under supervision of RN or other licensed prescriber.
• Care for surgical/telemetry patients as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Education: Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program; Consideration will be given for comparable education experience and successful licensure.
  Licensure: Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining a current LPN license within the hiring state in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all State Board of Nursing requirements
• Experience: Can be new or experienced LPN
• Certifications:
• LPN-IV Certification issued by the Missouri State Board of Nursing.
• Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire.
• The Surgical 3B unit has 32 patient beds, with a nurse to patient ratio of 1-6 on days and nights. This unit is a fast-paced medical surgical telemetry floor which focuses on pre- and post-surgical patients, with a focus on GI, Urology and ENT surgeries. The Surgical 3B unit offers the opportunity to learn and perfect critical nursing skills such as:
  • Head to toe assessments
  • Telemetry monitoring
  • NG tubes
  • IV insertions
  • CBI's
  • Chest tubes, Trach and ostomy care
  • Drains
  • Wound Care
