Job summary

Veterans Health Administration, Department of Veterans Affairs, is seeking a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for the Community Living Center at the HJ Heinz Campus in Pittsburgh, PA.

The LPN will provide veteran-centered nursing care in a home-like setting. The position requires compliance with federal VA standards, active licensure, and the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, high-quality care for eligible Veterans.

Qualifications

• Must have U.S. citizenship or eligible status per VA policy
• English language proficiency in both written and spoken form
• Active, unrestricted LPN/LVN licensure in a U.S. state or D.C.
• Graduate of an approved practical/nursing program with accredited status
• Experience in nursing care across settings (hospital, clinic, long-term care)
• May qualify under grandfathering provisions for current VA staff

Responsibilities

• Administers medications via oral/topical/injectable routes and documents responses
• Performs basic nursing care and treatments as ordered and reports changes to RN/MD
• Works with RN/MD to orient/train less experienced staff
• Provides patient and family education on disease processes, medications and treatments
• Assists with activities of daily living and patient rehabilitation goals
• Acts as preceptor or mentor to nursing staff and nursing assistants
