Job summary

Oneida Health is seeking a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to work 8:30am - 5pm at our Tri-Valley Canastota office. The LPN provides high-quality patient care ensuring safety and efficiency in every encounter.

The role supports physicians and healthcare teams, administers medications per protocol, documents patient information, and coordinates referrals and follow-up tests to ensure a smooth patient experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Graduation from a Licensed Practical Nurse Program registered by the New York State Education Department.
• Current BLS/ACLS.

Responsibilities

• Rooms patients, obtains and documents chief complaint, vital signs, height, weight, allergies and reconciles medications.
• Assists provider with procedures and examinations; ensures documents are signed by all parties.
• Attends to needs of patients and visitors; reassures patients and answers questions as necessary.
• Follows procedure for authorized medication administration and documentation.
• Performs treatments and procedures within scope and training including injectable medications.
• Maintains medical records; ensures reports, labs and information are filed/scanned and available.
• Completes routine equipment checks and stocks exam/treatment rooms; places orders as necessary.
• Facilitates physician orders in conjunction with patient needs and insurance requirements; schedules exams/tests.
• Coordinates and schedules referrals/surgeries with other specialists; ensures follow-up is arranged.
• Acts as receptionist/secretarial duties and discusses insurance claims for pre-certification when needed.
• Assists with resuscitation during Code Blue if needed and ensures procedures are followed.

Job description

Oneida Health is currently seeking a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to work 8:30am - 5pm at our Tri-Valley Canastota office. The LPN in the Practice Setting is responsible for providing high quality care to patients to assure exceptional patient care experiences both safely and efficiently.

• Hourly range: $23-$29.21/hour commensurate with experience

Essential Job Responsibilities

• Rooms patients, obtains and documents chief complaint, vital signs, height, weight, allergies and reconciles medications. Ensures results of referrals are available on chart.
• Assists provider (MD, PA, and NP) with procedures and examinations. Ensures appropriate documents are signed by all parties.
• Attends to needs of patients and visitors. Reassures patients and answer questions as necessary.
• Follows procedure for authorized medication administration and documentation.
• Performs treatments and procedures as directed, which are within the individual’s scope and training including administering injectable medications.
• Assures patients are seen in an orderly and fair manner, and that delays and waiting times are communicated to other members of the team as well as patients. Acutely ill patients are given priority at all times.
• Maintains medical record including ensuring all related reports, labs and information is filed/scanned and available in patients’ medical records prior to their appointment.
• Completes routine equipment checks and stocks supplies in all exam and treatment rooms. Places orders as necessary from Central Supply and Pharmacy. Participates in routine exam room cleaning.
• Facilitates and executes physician orders in conjunction with patient needs and insurance requirements, scheduling exams and tests as appropriate and preparing necessary prescriptions and/or instructions for use by other allied health professionals in a timely manner.
• Coordinates and schedules referrals/surgeries with other physician specialists as well as Imaging and other medical tests. Ensures appropriate follow-up is arranged for patients.
• When necessary, acts as receptionist, performs secretarial duties, and discusses insurance claims with insurance companies in an effort to pre-certify and/or meet pre-authorization restrictions.
• In the event of an anaphylactic reaction or Code Blue is able to assist provider (MD PA, or NP) with resuscitation and CPR if needed. Ensures Code procedure is followed and documented appropriately.
