Job summary

Cape Fear Valley Health in Fayetteville, NC seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse to provide direct patient care under RN supervision on 4 South Medical/Telemetry.

The unit emphasizes Stroke Medical-Surgical care with a 1:5 patient ratio and a collaborative care team. Current NC LPN licensure is required and BLS certification is expected. New graduate nurses are welcome to apply and grow in this environment.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• Current licensure in North Carolina as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Compact state licensure.

Responsibilities

• Participates in assessment of patient.
• Collaborates with departmental and interdisciplinary groups in developing the patient plan of care.
• Follows patient’s plan of care while participating in the direct nursing care to assigned patients.
• Adjusts care based upon age-specific physiological needs of patients as directed by the RN or other authorized person(s).
• Maintains an accurate and relevant record of patient care.
• Administers medication as ordered by physician.
• Facilitates a safe environment.
• Recognizes life-threatening situations and responds appropriately.
• Maintains required competencies.
• Participates in Performance Improvement activities and monitors the quality of care.
• Establishes collaborative interpersonal relationships with other Health System staff.
• Supports patients in the practice of their cultural and spiritual beliefs within limits of the medical regimen.
• Actively participates in cost containment and completes accurate charging for patient services.
• Actively demonstrates responsibility concerning customer satisfaction, patient throughput and hospital functional capacity through compliance with the Hospital Innovation Project (HIP), if applicable.
