Job summary

Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, NC is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide direct nursing care for assigned patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse in 4 South Medical Telemetry.

You will participate in patient assessments, support the plan of care, administer medications as ordered, maintain accurate records, and contribute to a safe, collaborative care environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current licensure in North Carolina as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Compact state licensure.

Responsibilities

• Participates in assessment of patient.
• Collaborates with departmental and interdisciplinary groups in developing the patient plan of care.
• Follows patient’s plan of care while participating in the direct nursing care to assigned patients.
• Adjusts care based upon age-specific physiological needs as directed by RN or other authorized person(s).
• Maintains accurate and relevant record of patient care.
• Administers medication as ordered by physician.
• Facilitates a safe environment.
• Recognizes life-threatening situations and responds appropriately.

Minimum Qualifications

Education And Formal Training

Unit Description

• 4 South is a 35 Bed Stroke Medical-Surgical Unit consisting of a Geriatric and adult patient unit, working on a track schedule.
• Patient ratio 1:5.
• Our Care team consists of Registered Nurses, a Clinical Educator, Nursing Assistant's, Unit Secretary, Resource Nurses, Case Managers, Physical Therapists, Dieticians and Occupational and Speech Therapists.
• New Graduate Nurses are accepted and welcome!

Work Experience

• 1-2 years of related clinical experience preferred
• Stroke, Neurology, Trauma, TIA
• Seizures, Dialysis, Sickle Cell, Respiratory
• Medical-Surgical Telemetry
• Dialysis
• Cardiac monitoring
• Wound care
• Telemetry required

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Required

• Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills
• Verbal and written skills required
• Has knowledge of the age-specific physiological and psychosocial needs of the patients typically served

Physical Requirements

• Speech and auditory acuity for communication of patient needs
• Visual acuity for observation of patients
• Long periods of standing, walking, bending, and lifting
• May involve skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious material
