Job summary

Carle Health in Urbana, IL is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to support RNs in high-acuity beds and pair with UNLs when patient load is heavy. The LPN may administer oral meds, IV piggybacks, trach care, dressing changes, and document assessments and care plans after the RN initiates the plan.

Responsibilities

• Pass all medications and hang IV piggyback and fluids (excluding IV push meds).
• Chart assessments on assigned patients after RN's initial assessment.
• Chart care plans opened by the RN; initiate new care plans as needed.
• Communicate with physicians/APPs to receive orders and coordinate patient care.
• Complete dressing changes as needed.
• Perform trach care as required.
• Insert and care for NG tubes and feedings.
• Care for and change ostomies.
• Reinforce education and discharge instructions.

Job description

Overview

When the unit is full, the LPN works with RNs in the highest acuity beds or is paired with an RN who has a heavy patient load. When the UNL has patients, the LPN is paired with the UNL to assist with the UNL patient load. LPN tasks may include oral medications, IV piggyback medications, trach care, dressing changes, and documentation of assessments and care plans after the RN has completed the first assessment and initiated the care plan.

Qualifications

• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days – American Heart Association (AHA)
• College Diploma in Licensed Practical Nursing (Required)

• Care for and change ostomies.

Compensation And Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $25.73 per hour - $41.87 per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
