Job summary

Mountainburg Public Schools is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for the high school and middle school campus to provide student health services, administer medications, and coordinate care with families and staff.

The successful candidate will hold an Arkansas LPN license, maintain CPR and First Aid training, and demonstrate excellent time management, communication, and professionalism in a school setting.

Qualifications

• Licensed Practical Nurse in the state of Arkansas.
• Graduate from an professional nursing education program.
• Maintains current CPR certification and First Aid Training.
• Excellent time management, planning, and organizational skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Resilience and a positive attitude.
• Superb interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills.
• The ability to establish rapport and build professional relationships with students.

Responsibilities

• Observes special education students on a regular basis to detect health needs.
• Screens students for health defects, including height, weight, vision, hearing, scoliosis, and kindergarten screenings.
• Administers medication and treatment prescribed by physicians and oversees procedures for office staff to administer medications in the absence of the school nurse.
• Conducts parent conferences and maintains liaison between physicians, parents and staff.
• Maintains up-to-date cumulative health records on all students requiring nursing intervention, including immunization records and exemptions for religious and medical reasons.
• Reports to parents, school personnel, physicians, clinics and other agencies on student health matters.
