Job description

Central Intake Representative – Where Patient Care Begins

Responsible for the organization's centralized psychiatric intake admission process for inpatient and outpatient visits, including insurance eligibility verifications when applicable. The role enhances referral source and patient satisfaction by providing a prompt and accurate central process for handling referrals to the organization's psychiatric programs. The Central Intake Representative (CIR) ensures urgency and timely communication throughout the referral until hospital admission approval or denial, drives data collection, and presents findings through defined processes and technology to approved providers for admission consideration.

The environment may include chemicals used for cleaning, dust, mist, and other pollutants. This is a smoke‑free workplace. The employee must provide documentation of a tuberculosis test during new‑hire orientation and annually thereafter. Additional characteristics include sitting four or more hours per day, performing repetitive tasks/motion, and hearing alarms, telephone, and normal speaking voice. Stress is identified as a hazard from a hectic environment with frequent interruptions. The environment alone presents a certain amount of risk servicing psychiatric patients in acute and crisis needs.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required

• Education: State accredited program completion

Work Shifts

12‑hour shifts / 3‑2 split rotation, every other weekend off. PM – 6:00 pm to 6:00 am. Night shift.
