Job summary

Quality Correctional Health Care in Elmore County, Alabama, is hiring a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for day and evening PRN shifts. Under the Site Administrator's supervision, the LPN delivers nursing care in a correctional setting, following physician directives and state nursing practice rules.

Responsibilities include emergency response, patient intake, medication orders, sick calls, medication administration, and thorough documentation.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of an Accredited Vocational/Technical School.
• Current and valid LPN or LVN license.
• Current CPR certification.
• Minimum of one year of clinical experience as an LPN.
• One year in correctional health care is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Respond and intervene to emergency situations.
• Conduct patient intake paperwork.
• Verify and obtain orders for patient medication.
• Conduct Sick Call clinic visits.
• Order and maintain supply of patient medication from pharmacy.
• Administer medications following nursing standards and regulations.
• Document treatments, patient care, and collected labs.
• Assist with Chronic Care Clinic and sick calls.
• Monitor changes in patient condition and document them.
• Ensure daily nursing tasks are completed within timeframes.
• Maintain patient confidentiality.
• Assist with training and orientation of new personnel.
• Follow QCHC policies and guidelines.
