Job summary

Quality Correctional Care (QCC) is seeking passionate RN or LPN professionals to provide comprehensive medical and mental health care to justice‑involved patients at Porter County Jail in Valparaiso, Indiana.

You will assess, plan, administer medications, manage chronic conditions, respond to medical emergencies, and educate patients while adhering to state and federal regulations. This full‑time role offers competitive pay, PTO, and benefits.

Qualifications

• Valid RN or LPN licensure.
• CPR certification required.
• Must be able to stand for extended periods.
• Must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, and deliver comprehensive healthcare to patients.
• Administer medications and manage treatments.
• Perform medical intakes and assess fitness for incarceration, as needed.
• Respond to sick call requests and coordinate with medical providers for follow‑up.
• Change dressings as required and perform 14‑day physicals.
• Manage chronic conditions and provide patient education on health concerns.
• Respond to medical emergencies and provide life‑saving measures when needed.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

Nursing Responsibilities:

• Assess, plan, and deliver comprehensive healthcare to patients by providing the following:
  • Administer medications
  • Perform medical intakes and assess if patient is fit for incarceration, as needed
  • Respond to sick call requests and follow up with the medical provider when needed
  • Check and/or change medical dressings as required by the medical provider
  • Performing 14-day physicals
  • Managing chronic care
  • Providing patient education on health concerns
  • Responding to medical emergencies
    • Be capable of performing life saving measures and ability to take charge and give direction in an emergency.
  • Maintain working knowledge of pharmacology, including but not limited to drug reaction/overdose, formulary/non-formulary medications, and knowledge of medication costs
  • Be able to provide insight and direction to Medically Trained Personnel, as needed.
  • Comply with all current and future state, federal, and local laws and regulations

Location:

Porter County Jail, Valparaiso, Indiana with availability to pick up shifts in neighboring counties, as well, if desired.

Shift Opening(s):

6AMto 6PM or 6PM to 6AM to pick up open shifts

Requirements:

• Valid RN or LPN licensure
• Valid CPR certification
• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
• Must be able to push, pull, reach, and bend frequently
• Must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds
