Job summary

Quality Correctional Care (QCC) is seeking a licensed practical nurse (LPN) or registered nurse (RN) for the LaPorte County Jail in La Porte, IN. The night shift runs 6 PM to 6 AM, three days per week with weekend rotation.

You will assess patients, administer medications, handle intakes, and respond to sick calls while maintaining safety and compliance. The role requires active LPN/RN licensure and CPR certification, with responsibilities including chronic care management, life-saving

Qualifications

• Must hold valid LPN or RN licensure.
• CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, and deliver comprehensive healthcare to patients.

Nursing Responsibilities:

• Assess, plan, and deliver comprehensive healthcare to patients by providing the following:


• Administer medications


• Perform medical intakes and asses if patient is fit for incarceration, as needed


• Respond to sick call requests and follow up with the medical provider when needed


• Check and/or change medical dressings as required by the medical provider


• Performing 14-day physicals


• Managing chronic care


• Providing patient education on health concerns


• Responding to medical emergencies


• Be capable of performing life saving measures and ability to take charge and give direction in an emergency


• Maintain working knowledge of pharmacology, including but not limited to drug reaction/overdose, formulary/non-formulary medications, and knowledge of medication costs


• Be able to provide insight and direction to Medically Trained Personnel, as needed.


• Comply with all current and future state, federal, and local laws and regulations

LaPorte County Jail

Shift Opening(s):

6 PM to 6 AM, 3 days per week with every an other weekend rotation

Requirements:

• Valid LPN or RN licensure


• Valid CPR certification


• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time


• Must be able to push, pull, reach, and bend frequently


• Must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds
