Job summary

Essentia Health is seeking a licensed practical nurse (LPN) or certified medical assistant (CMA) for the Brainerd Clinic family medicine practice in Brainerd, Minnesota. Typical hours are 7:30 am–5:00 pm, Monday–Friday, with flex scheduling and no weekend shifts.

A $2,500 sign-on incentive is available. The role includes direct patient care, assisting with procedures, medication administration, and coordination of care across the care team.

Qualifications

• LPN license in Minnesota.
• CMA certification or completion of a CMA program and certification within one year of hire.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in ambulatory family medicine.
• Assist RN, physician and other providers during examinations and minor procedures.
• Administer medications and monitor patient for adverse reactions.

This LPN or CMA works 7:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Typically this employee will have one weekday off, but this is a flex position. Hours may be flexed upward or downward without notice based on the needs of the facility. No weekend, holiday, or on-call rotations are required. A $2500 sign-on incentive is available.

What You'll Do:

Assists RN, Physician and other providers and provides direct patient care in the ambulatory care setting to contribute to meeting the mission and goals of Essentia Health. Will perform identified procedures for which competencies have been demonstrated. Cares for patients ranging in age from newborn to elderly as noted on age-related category. Key roles and responsibilities include:

• Patient Care and Monitoring: Perform routine assessments such as measuring vital signs, recording patient histories, and observing symptoms to assist in diagnosing and monitoring patient health.

• Assisting with Procedures: Support physicians and nurse practitioners during examinations and minor procedures by preparing equipment, assisting with patient positioning, and ensuring proper infection control.

• Medication Administration: Administer prescribed medications, including injections and oral drugs, and monitor patients for any adverse reactions or side effects, ensuring accurate documentation.

• Coordination of Care: Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans, and assist in coordinating follow-up appointments and referrals.

• Patient Intake and Preparation: Conduct initial patient intake processes, including gathering medical histories, updating personal information, and preparing patients for examination or diagnostic testing.

Licensure/CertificationQualifications:

• LPN: Current LPN license with the Minnesota state board of nursing upon hire.

• CMA: Current registration or certification as a Medical Assistant OR verifiable completion of a Medical Assistant Program and must become certified withinone year of date of hire. Must pass certification withintwo attempts.

• BOTH: AHA Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification within 3 months of hire.
