Job summary

Independence Health System in Greensburg, PA is seeking a student nurse extern under an RN preceptor to gain hands-on clinical experience. You will assist with assessment, plans, care, and evaluating outcomes while ensuring patient safety and effective communication with the healthcare team.

Incumbents rotate shifts, may travel between Independence Health locations; must be enrolled in an approved RN program and maintain good academic standing; BLS and state clearances required.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited RN program approved by the State Board of Nursing.
• For BSN students: senior year and completed medical/surgical clinical.
• For Diploma/Associate students: final year of nursing school.
• Provide proof of continued enrollment and passing grades each semester; in good academic standing.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care under the RN preceptor through assessment, planning, care and evaluation.
• Perform nursing interventions and document per policy ensuring patient safety.
• Assist in diagnostic and treatment procedures as outlined in the nursing care plan; help with activities of daily living and mobility.
• Demonstrate professional behavior, strong customer service and communication with all individuals and groups.
• Assist in maintaining a clean, safe environment to prevent infections and ensure patient safety.
