Job summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Good Samaritan, Canistota, SD provides professional nursing care for residents in long term care under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician. Demonstrates knowledge of nursing principles and ensures safety and comfort in the resident's plan of care.

This full-time night shift position offers a 12-hour night schedule, 40 hours per week, with shift differentials and a robust benefits package.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
• Associate degree in practical nursing is preferred.
• Must have attended a pre-licensure nursing program that included supervised clinical experience across the life span or have had a minimum of 400 hours of experience as LPN.
• Currently holds an unencumbered LPN license with State Nursing board and/or possess multi-state licensure.
• Completes required annual continuing education units (CEU) and competency training requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional nursing care for residents in long term care under supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider or physician.
• Documents resident interactions and the outcomes related to resident care, medication, behavior, activity, and dietary.
• Communicates effectively and maintains confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Counsels residents, family members and/or resident advocate on prevention and treatment plans.
