Job summary

Livingston Regional Hospital, a community hospital in central Tennessee, seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide care on the medical/surgical unit under RN supervision.

The LPN will monitor vital signs, administer medications, and assist with ADLs while following hospital policies and infection control protocols. Prior med/surg experience and BLS certification are preferred for this role.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing Program is required.
• Demonstrates knowledge of nursing principles and patient care procedures.
• Proficient with electronic medical records (EMR) and clinical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care including monitoring vital signs and ADLs.
• Administers medications as prescribed within scope of practice.
• Documents patient care, assessments and interventions accurately and timely.
• Assists with wound care and specimen collection as directed.
• Collaborates with RN to develop and update patient care plans.
• Responds to emergencies and supports patient stabilization as needed.

Job Summary

• The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Medical/Surgical provides direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The role includes monitoring vital signs, administering medications, performing wound care, and assisting with activities of daily living. The LPN ensures patient safety, adherence to care plans, and optimal outcomes in accordance with established nursing standards and hospital policies.

Essential Functions

• Provides direct patient care, including monitoring vital signs and assisting with ADLs
• Administers medications as prescribed within scope of practice
• Documents patient care, assessments, and interventions accurately and timely
• Assists with specimen collection, wound care, and other clinical procedures as directed
• Collaborates with the RN in developing, updating, and implementing patient care plans
• Monitors and reports changes in patient condition to the RN or physician
• Provides patient and family education regarding care plans and discharge instructions
• Maintains a safe and clean patient environment in accordance with infection control protocols
• Participates in staff training, competency assessments, and quality improvement initiatives
• Responds to emergencies and assists in patient stabilization as directed

Qualifications

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing Program required

Experience

• Minimum of six (6) months of experience in a medical/surgical setting preferred
