Job summary

Quality Correctional Health Care is seeking a part-time LPN to provide direct nursing care within a correctional setting at Talladega County. The nurse will perform intake, medication administration, and routine sick calls under physician guidance.

The position requires an active LPN license, CPR, and at least one year of clinical experience. Weekend/evening availability is included, with pay rate of $28/hr plus a $4.00/hr shift differential.

Qualifications

• Current and valid LPN license required.
• CPR certification required.
• Minimum of one year of LPN clinical experience.

Responsibilities

• Respond and intervene in emergency situations.
• Conduct patient intake paperwork.
• Verify and obtain orders for patient medication.
• Conduct Sick Call clinic.
• Order and maintain supply of patient medication from pharmacy.
• Administer medications following nursing standards and regulations.
• Complete and document treatments, care and labs.
• Assist with Chronic Care and provider sick calls.
• Monitor changes in patient condition and document accurately.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and assist with training new personnel.

Description

Basic Function and Scope of Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Site Administrator/Coordinator the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides nursing services to patients within a correctional environment. The LPN delivers nursing care as directed by the Physician within the scope of the State Board of Nursing Practice for the LPN.

Pay Rate: $28/hr

Shift differential $4.00/hr

• Respond and intervene in all emergency situations
• Conduct Patient Intake paperwork
• Verify and obtain orders for patient medication
• Conduct Sick Call clinic
• Order / maintain supply of patient medication from pharmacy
• Administer medications following nursing standards and correctional regulations
• Complete and document ordered treatments, patient care, and collection ordered labs
• Assist provider with Chronic Care Clinic and Provider sick call visit
• Monitor for, report and document changes in patient's condition
• Accurately document all patient information, nursing care and interventions
• Ensure daily nursing task are completed within prescribed timeframe.
• Maintain patient confidentiality
• Assist with training and orientation of new personnel
• Follow QCHC policies, procedures & guidelines
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Successful completion of an Accredited Vocational/Technical School
• Current and valid LPN or LVN license
• Current CPR
• Minimum of one year of clinical experience in a health care setting as an LPN.
• One year of experience in a correctional health care setting is preferred.
