OU Health in Tulsa is seeking an LPN - Licensed Practical Nurse for Infusion at the Stephenson Cancer Center to provide preventative and general nursing care under supervision.

You will assist with nursing assessments, monitor vital signs, deliver care per the nursing plan, and support physicians during examinations.

The role requires HS diploma or GED, NCLEX-PN, and an Oklahoma LPN license (or multi-state LPN) with current BLS.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of NCLEX-PN examination.
• Current BLS certification required.
• Oklahoma LPN license or a current multistate LPN License (eNLC) required.

Responsabilités

• Assists with nursing assessments through data collection, observation and vital signs.
• Provides care according to an established nursing plan.
• Observes changes in patient condition and notifies supervisory personnel.
• Administers medications (oral, intravenous, intramuscular, subcutaneous, etc.).
• Suction and clean tracheostomy sites.
• Prepares patients for routine physical examinations and assists the physician during examinations.
• LPN can function as Surgical Tech if operating room position is open.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

General Summary

Under general supervision,providespreventative and health care to an assigned group of patients or clients in the OU Health facility.

Essential Responsibilities

• Assistswith the nursing assessment through data collection, observation, and obtainment of vital signs on assigned patients or clients.

• Providescare according to an established nursing plan.

• Observeschanges inpatient'scondition and notify supervisory personnel if significant changes occur.

• Providesroutine ostomy care, nasogastric tube placement and feeding and placement,anddiscontinuingoforal-gastrictube.Initiatesand monitorsoxygen therapy according to physician orders or unitprotocol.

• Suctionsand cleanstracheotomy sites.

• May administer oral, intravenous, intra-muscular, intra-dermal, subcutaneous, sub-lingual, vaginal, rectal,and topical medications.

• Preparespatients for routine physical examinations andassistthe physician during examinations.

• An LPN can function in the role of Surgical Tech if position open is in the operating room.

General Responsibilities

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements

• HS Diploma or GEDrequired.

• Completion of education requirements for NCLEX-PN examination.

Experience Requirements

• No experiencerequired.

License/Certification/Registration Requirements

• Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Associationrequiredupon hire.

• Current LPN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing OR a current multistate LPN License (eNLC)required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Knowledge of professional nursing theories, practices, techniques, and procedures.

• Ability to organize, coordinate, plan, and evaluatenursingneeds of assigned patients.

• Must be knowledgeable aboutoperatingroom techniquesifapplying for a surgery position.

• Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
