Job description

Job Summary: Geisinger offers outpatient Clinic Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) a $5,000 sign-on bonus for eligible candidates. Geisinger has hundreds of community sites that allow LPNs to work to the top of their license while providing top-notch care in an ambulatory setting.

Job Duties

The Clinic LPN provides primary clinical support to the provider, patient, and their family to assist in preparation for anesthetic care on the day of procedure/surgery. Follows up on diagnostic testing to ensure completion, accuracy, and filing in the medical record to ensure continuity and quality of care. Promotes a clean environment. Meets the qualifications to provide care for patients in a specific age range in their assigned clinical area.

  • Obtains and documents patient medical history, chief complaint, vital signs, and provides a basic medical database for the provider, and prepares the patient for examinations.
  • Conducts patient evaluations by means of chart review and phone calls in an effort to properly prepare patients for anesthesia on the day of procedure/surgery.
  • Supports patient care by obtaining, scanning, and reviewing documents related to patient preparation.
  • Collaborates and connects with anesthesia colleagues as needed.
  • Supports the work of the clinic, continuity of care, and preparation of the whole patient by forming partnerships with surgical clinics, institutions, primary care clinics, and surgical scheduling.
  • Provides direct clinical care as directed by the provider.
  • Assists the provider in the performance of ancillary examinations as directed by the provider.
  • Executes and documents ongoing patient communication, as directed by the provider, prioritizes communication to the provider, and responds to patient questions and requests to ensure efficient use of provider time and timely response to patients' needs.
  • Cleans and sets up examination rooms between cases and preparation of the patient as needed.

Position Details

Hiring Incentive: This position qualifies for a $5,000 sign-on bonus paid over two years. Certain stipulations do apply.

  • Hours: Monday through Friday; Dayshift - hours to be discussed further during the interview.
  • Experience: Pre-Admission Testing, Perioperative, and/or ICU experience is preferred.
