Job summary

Advocate Health seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Internal Medicine to support patient care by taking vital signs, documenting health information, and assisting physicians during exams and procedures.

Candidates must hold an LPN license, complete an accredited PN program, and obtain BLS within 45 days, with no prior experience required. This is a full-time, on-site role in a busy clinic.

Qualifications

• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license required in the practicing state.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 45 days unless exempted by leadership.
• Accredited practical nursing program completed.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and room patients for exams; record vital signs and health information.
• Perform lab procedures using aseptic technique and infection control.
• Assist physicians with procedures and surgeries as directed.
• Administer medications under orders, including immunizations and IV therapy with limits.
• Provide patient education on tasks, treatments and self-care.
• Coordinate referrals, follow-up appointments, and prescription refills.
• Document patient conditions accurately and communicate with the care team.
• Perform advanced clinical tasks under supervision (e.g., sutures, catheterization, EKG).
• Maintain exam rooms and equipment; assist with patient transport as needed.
