Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited or approved program in Practical Nursing.
• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license required in the practicing state.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and rooms the patient for exam by obtaining vital signs and documenting health information.
• Performs laboratory procedures (i.e. strep test, wound culture, specimen collection).
• Assists the physician with procedures and surgeries such as pelvic exams, allergy testing, EMG, and colposcopy.
• Administers medications under orders, including immunizations, antibiotics, pain medications, vitamins, and insulin; may initiate/maintain IV therapy.
• Provides basic patient education on tasks, treatment and self-care.
• Follows up with procedure/test requests, prescription refills, and referrals.
• Communicates with physicians and health care team; documents patient status accurately.
• Performs advanced clinical tasks under supervision (e.g., suture removal, catheterization, EKG).
• Organizes and maintains exam rooms, labs and equipment; assists with patient transport.
• Maintains equipment through routine cleaning and sterilization; participates in quality processes.
• Participates in patient-centered initiatives and care management.
