Job summary

Baptist Health is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse for the Emergency Department to float across units. The role includes completing initial assessments, assisting with re-assessments, and supporting patient progress under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Responsibilities include medication administration, treatments, and contributing to patient and family data collection. The position is part-time (7p–7a) with a $5,000 sign-on bonus for external candidates.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited LPN program leading to licensure.
• Current unrestrictive LPN licensure in Kentucky.
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire.

• Evaluate patient progress and communicate with the RN and patient/family.
• Perform treatments and administer medications per policy within LPN scope.

The Licensed Practice Nurse is responsible for age-appropriate patient care under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse. Their scope of practice is determined by the Kentucky Nurse Practice Act and established Baptist Health Hardin and Nursing Service policies, procedures, and standards of practice.

• Assists in gathering initial assessment data (excluding admission physical assessment).
• Contributes to re-assessments.
• Evaluates patients progress toward established goals, communicating with RN as needed. Includes patients, families and significant other in data collection.
• Performs treatments and administers medications per policies and procedures and within scope of LPN practice.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse program leading to licensure.
• Current unrestricted licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the state of Kentucky required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire.
• Must obtain mandatory nonviolent crisis prevention training to be completed prior to end of orientation period and maintained annually.
