Job summary

Baptist Health Hardin is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse Float for the Emergency Department. This part-time role offers a 7p–7a shift and a $5,000 sign-on bonus for external candidates.

The LPN provides age-appropriate patient care under RN supervision in accordance with Kentucky regulations and hospital policies. Key duties include data gathering, re-assessment, progress evaluation with the RN, and administering medications per policies.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse program leading to licensure.
• Current unrestricted LPN licensure in Kentucky required.
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• Mandatory nonviolent crisis prevention training to be completed prior to end of orientation and maintained annually.

Responsibilities

The Licensed Practice Nurse is responsible for age-appropriate patient care under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse. Their scope of practice is determined by the Kentucky Nurse Practice Act and established Baptist Health Hardin and Nursing Service policies, procedures, and standards of practice.

• Assists in gathering initial assessment data (excluding admission physical assessment).
• Contributes to re‑assessments.
• Evaluates patients progress toward established goals, communicating with RN as needed. Includes patients, families and significant other in data collection.
• Performs treatments and administers medications per policies and procedures and within scope of LPN practice.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse program leading to licensure.
• Current unrestricted licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the state of Kentucky required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire.
• Must obtain mandatory nonviolent crisis prevention training to be completed prior to end of orientation period and maintained annually.
