Johnston-Willis Hospital in Richmond, VA is seeking an LPN-LVN Extern for PRN shifts to support the nursing team with hands-on patient care as you advance in your LPN program. You will assist with ADLs, monitor vital signs, document observations, and educate patients and families about care plans while maintaining a safe, clean environment under supervision.

Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Currently enrolled in school to obtain LPN
• Fundamentals and some clinical experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Assisting patients with ADLs (Activities of Daily Living), monitoring vital signs, and supporting patient mobility and comfort
• Performing nursing tasks like wound care, catheter management, and non‑medicated procedures as your skills develop
• Documenting patient information, observations and changes, and communicating important updates promptly to the nursing team
• Helping patients and families understand their care plans and preparing them for recovery through clear, compassionate education
• Maintaining a clean, safe patient environment by following safety protocols, managing equipment, and responding quickly to patient needs
