Job summary

Johnston-Willis Hospital in Richmond, VA, is seeking an LPN Extern PRN to support the nursing team, assist with ADLs, monitor vitals, and contribute to safe, compassionate patient care as you progress in your LPN program.

As you gain experience, you will perform growing nursing tasks, document observations, educate patients and families, and help maintain a clean, safe environment in a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• Currently enrolled in school to obtain LPN.
• Fundamentals and some clinical experience preferred.
• Vocational School Graduate

Responsibilities

• Assisting patients with ADLs (Activities of Daily Living), monitoring vital signs, and supporting patient mobility and comfort.
• Performing nursing tasks like wound care, catheter management, and non-medicated procedures as your skills develop.
• Documenting patient information, observations and changes, and communicating important updates promptly to the nursing team.
• Helping patients and families understand their care plans and preparing them for recovery through clear, compassionate education.
• Maintaining a clean, safe patient environment by following safety protocols, managing equipment, and responding quickly to patient needs
