Job summary

Allen Correctional Center in Kinder, LA, part of the Louisiana Department of Public Safety & Corrections - Corrections Services, seeks a motivated Licensed Practical Nurse to join the Nursing Department. You will provide nursing care to inmates, support a multidisciplinary team, and manage a wide spectrum from routine care to emergencies within a secure facility.

Qualifications

• Must hold Louisiana Practical Nurse license, temporary permit, or NLC/eNLC multi-state license.
• Experience in correctional or clinical nursing preferred.
• Ability to implement nursing care plans under supervision and monitor patients.

Responsibilities

• Implements nursing care plan under supervision.
• Observes patients for changes in physical or mental status and reports changes.
• Obtains specimens for laboratory testing as assigned.
• Takes vital signs: temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.
• Administers medications and treatments per policies.
• Transcribes orders and records patient condition.
• Receives and gives shift reports.
• Requests stock drugs and supplies as assigned.
• Administers CPR in emergencies.
• Admits, transfers, and discharges patients.
• Assembles information about patient history and status.
