Elayn Hunt Correctional Center in St. Gabriel, LA is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to join the Nursing Department and care for inmates under RN or senior LPN guidance. The role covers direct patient care, vital signs, medications, admissions/discharges, and emergencies in a 24-hour facility.

Compensation uses SER levels ($19.48–$22.30/hr) with an additional $5.00/hr premium pay; benefits include holidays, leave, retirement plans, and competitive state employment opportunities.

Qualifications

• Possession of a current Louisiana Practical Nurse license, a temporary permit, or a multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state.
• This role requires ability to provide direct patient care and work in a 24-hour correctional facility.
• Must be willing to work shift work and participate in emergency response as needed.

Responsabilités

• Provide direct patient care, including comfort, hygiene, safety, nutrition, and overall well‑being under RN or senior LPN guidance.
• Monitor and assess patients, promptly reporting changes to the healthcare team.
• Collect specimens, perform diagnostic tests, and accurately record vital signs.
• Administer medications and treatments safely, following established protocols.
• Participate in shift handovers for continuity of care.
• Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges with emphasis on safety.
• Respond to emergencies, including CPR and first aid as needed.
• Manage inventory and supplies to support patient care.
