Job summary

Huntsville Hospital is seeking an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to support the clinical team in providing quality patient care. The role involves patient assessments, vital signs, preparing exam rooms, collecting specimens, and delivering patient education under physician guidance.

The LPN will document in medical records, assist with procedures and referrals, manage supplies, and ensure compliance with Joint Commission standards.

Qualifications

• Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing with current Alabama licensure.
• Minimum of two years experience as an LPN.

Responsibilities

• Assess problems and conditions requiring visit and document in medical records.
• Greet and screen patient for information and prepare for examination by provider.
• Assist provider in examination, treatment and referral of patient, preparing paperwork and equipment.
• Initiate testing ordered by provider and schedule appointments.
• Perform injections for patients of all ages.
• Assist with patient education.
• Maintain medical record entries and oversight of content.
• Assist in referral management and tracking.
• Communicate prescription information under provider direction.
• Maintain supplies and manage inventory of drugs.
• Develop and maintain documentation systems compliant with legal and quality standards.
• Manage referral slips, authorizations and consults scheduling.
• Schedule tests and referrals and reconcile tests and labs.
• Perform CLIA waived tests and quality controls.
• Perform venipunctures/finger/heel sticks for labs.
