Job summary

Missouri State University’s Magers Health and Wellness Center seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse (L.P.N.) to provide basic patient care within the scope of Missouri Nurse Practice Act under supervision of a licensed clinician. The position is full-time, non-exempt, and located at the Health and Wellness Center in Springfield, MO.

Qualifications

• Education: A high school diploma plus completion of one year training in licensed practical nursing program from an accredited school is required.
• Experience: Two years nursing experience in a clinical setting is required.
• Effort: Must be able to lift 15-25 pounds and endure extended periods of standing on a daily basis.
• License: Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the state of Missouri is required.

Responsibilities

• Provides basic patient care by gathering patient information and taking vital signs.
• Observes patients, charts and reports changes to the physician or nurse practitioner and documents in the medical record.
• Addresses patient needs by coordinating calls and following up with physicians.
• Maintains exam rooms, stocks and prepares equipment for exams, and assists with instrument cleaning and sterilization as trained.
• Follows infection control policies and upholds patient confidentiality and safety.
• Keeps current through self-directed reading and professional development as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
