Job summary

Virginia Mason Franciscan Health is seeking a Clinic Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to support daily operations in a busy clinic. You will prepare patient charts, collect vital signs, and assist with exams while prioritizing patient comfort and privacy.

You’ll collaborate with clinicians, manage patient flow, and provide education to patients and families. Washington state LPN license and CPR are required at hire, with preference for 1–3 years clinic-experience.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited school of practical nursing approved by the Washington State Board of Nursing
  • Licensed Practical Nurse: WA license upon hire
  • Basic Life Support (CPR) certification upon hire

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for practitioner visits, room patients, record vital signs, allergies, medications, and presenting problems
  • Collect information via phone and in-person, screen and respond to patient needs
  • Provide mobility assistance
  • Manage patient flow and patient/family education
  • Assist with patient care, diagnostics, and procedures per licensure and protocols; refer complex cases to RN or provider
  • Instruct patients on sample collection, tests, and follow-up information

*Job Summary and Responsibilities*

As our Clinic Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you’ll keep the day running smoothly and efficiently for your patients and clinical team. You’ll take the lead on proactive preparation of patient charts; ensuring all information is obtained and up-to-date for those seen in our facility. Every day, you'll manage care for multiple patients, adapting to physician availability on-site, and actively collaborate with your clinical team to prioritize tasks and ensure seamless patient flow throughout the clinic. Your success in this role comes from your enthusiasm to help others, work efficiently, and your empathy for our patients.

  • Prepares patients for practitioner visit; rooms patients, obtains and records vital signs and other appropriate information, such as height, weight, drug allergies, current medications and presenting problem; chaperones and documents the patient exam, ensuring patient privacy and comfort.
  • Collects patient information through telephone and in-person contact; screens, communicates and responds to patient needs appropriately.
  • Provide patient mobility assistance, as necessary.
  • Manages patient flow ensuring enough time for patient and family education.
  • Performs, or assists with, patient care, diagnostic tests and clinical procedures to appropriate level of training/scope of licensure and established procedures; follows triage standing orders/protocols for routine nursing situations and refers complex, urgent or emergent situations to an RN or provider.
  • Instructs patients in the collection of samples and other tests; ensures that patient or family understands follow-up and referral information.
