Job summary

Penn State Health Mount Joy is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse or provider. The LPN will observe, document, and communicate patient information in the EMR, and educate patients and families as directed.

The position is full time, day shift, 40 hours per week, with a $5,000 sign-on bonus for eligible candidates and Penn State tuition benefits through Grant-in-Aid.

Qualifications

• Currently licensed to practice as a licensed practical nurse by state of employment or holds a multistate LPN license through the interstate Nurse Licensure Compact.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required prior to completion of orientation.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct and individualized nursing care to an assigned group of patients under the direction of a registered nurse/physician.
• Observes, reports and records medical information in the medical record and electronic medical record.
• Administers medications in accordance with policy and procedures and instructs patients and families.
• Communicates with the healthcare team to coordinate patient care.
• Supports timely management of communications and forms per organizational policy.
• Maintains and expands professional knowledge through continuing education and in-service programs.
• Participates in problem-solving and quality improvement activities.
• Initiates appropriate measures in emergency situations.
