Job summary

Colonial Behavioral Health is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our Medical Services team in serving children and adolescents within James City County, Williamsburg, York County, Poquoson, and surrounding communities. The role focuses on health monitoring, education, medication management, and collaboration with the medical and behavioral health teams.

The position emphasizes compassionate care, documentation, and adherence to confidentiality, with a typical Monday–Friday schedule

Qualifications

  • LPN license required in Virginia.
  • One year of nursing experience with individuals with serious mental illness preferred.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Strong problem-solving and collaborative skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide case monitoring, assessing health status and medication effects.
  • Deliver health education and training to staff and individuals served.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and electronic documentation.
  • Oversee medication supplies room management, storage, and administration of medications.
  • Collaborate with medical and behavioral health teams to promote quality care.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

This is a rewarding opportunity for a compassionate nursing professional who wants to make a meaningful difference in behavioral health. As part of our Medical Services team, you’ll help support the health, safety, and well-being of the individuals we serve through quality care, education, medication management, and ongoing health monitoring.

  • Providecase monitoring, including assessment of health status, medication side effects, clinical stability, and other health-related needs.
  • Provide engaging and informativehealth education and trainingto program staff and individuals served.
  • Contribute to accurate and timelymedical records and electronic documentation.
  • Oversee the ongoing management of themedication supplies room, including appropriate ordering, storage, handling, and administration of medications.
  • Collaborate with the medical and behavioral health teams to promote quality care and positive outcomes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Monday–Friday 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.


This position will work primarily with children and adolescents and may be required to work at additional Colonial Behavioral Health sites as needed.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Knowledge and understanding of individuals withserious mental illness, developmental disabilities, and co-occurring disorders.
  • Ability to maintain a high level ofconfidentiality and professionalism.
  • Ability to assist individuals withproblem-solvingand utilize creative approaches when appropriate.
  • One year of nursing experience with individuals with serious mental illness preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license/record is required.
  • LPN license required.

DMV record must be submitted with application.
