Job summary

New York Cancer & Blood Specialists (NYCBS) in Manhattan is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our oncology team. You will update the electronic medical record, manage physician communications, and support clinical operations in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires an NYS LPN license and BLS certification, with responsibilities including patient education, phlebotomy, injections, and assisting physicians during exams.

Qualifications

• Current NYS LPN license is required.
• BLS certification is required.
• Professional conduct with meticulous attention to detail is essential.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills are necessary.
• Experience with EMR systems is preferred.
• Reliable transportation to NYCBS locations for patient care needs.

Responsibilities

• Update and maintain the electronic medical record with up-to-date vital signs, demographics, med reconciliation, allergies and diagnoses.
• Manage physician inbox messages and prioritize EMR tasks.
• Assist in maintaining medical inventory and stock rooms to ensure supplies for staff.
• Prepare and clean examination rooms before patient appointments.
• Escort patients to exam rooms.
• Provide patient education on medications, disease management, home care, and diet.

Job Description

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Location: Manhattan - Kips Bay

Hours/Days: 5 /8.5 hour shifts Mon - Fri

Organization: New York Cancer & Blood Specialists (NYCBS)

In This Role, You Will

• Update and maintain the electronic medical record with up to date vital signs, patient demographics, medication reconciliation, allergies and medical diagnoses
• Manage Physician inbox messages and prioritize tasks assigned via the electronic medical record
• Assist in maintaining the medical inventory; place orders for new materials and stock rooms to ensure adequate supplies for physician staff
• Clean and prepare examination rooms prior to patient appointments
• Escort patients to exam rooms
• Provide patient education concerning medications, management of diseases, home treatments, and special diets
• Assist physician with exams and/or procedures
• Prepare and administer Injections
• Phlebotomy and collection of other lab specimens
• Perform point of care lab testing
• Perform EKGs
• Administer and document medication under a physician’s order and follows the five (5) medication rights and reduce the potential for medical error

We Require

• Current NYS LPN license required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• Consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and other health care professionals.
• Experience with EMR’s
• Reliable transportation to any of NYCBS location for patient care needs
