Job summary

Fanatics Betting & Gaming in New York City is seeking a Software Engineer II to join the Loyalty Engineering team. You will design, build, test, and maintain backend services and APIs powering in-app loyalty experiences during peak sports moments.

You’ll collaborate with engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to deliver robust backend features, participate in on-call rotations, code reviews, and architectural discussions, while staying current with backend tech and best practices.

Qualifications

• Backend systems built with Java (Spring or equivalent).
• RESTful API design, microservices, and OOP principles.
• Production experience and real-time issue resolution.
• Familiarity with relational or NoSQL databases and data modeling.
• Strong communication and collaborative mindset.
• Experience using AI tools to accelerate development.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, document, and deploy backend services and APIs.
• Participate in on-call rotation and resolve production issues.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to deliver features.
• Engage in code reviews and promote maintainable systems.
• Participate in sprint planning and architectural reviews.
• Develop familiarity with systems, platform, and use cases.
• Stay up to date with backend technologies and best practices.
• Occasional travel to Fanatics offices or events.
