Pace Academy, an independent college preparatory school in Atlanta, is seeking Lower School Substitute Teachers for the academic year. You will provide instruction, manage classrooms, and promote student learning in the absence of the regular teacher across grade-level homerooms or specials.

Qualifications

• Love of young children and their development.
• Demonstrated success teaching elementary-age children strongly preferred.
• Sense of humor, flexibility and the ability to engage and empower children.

Responsibilities

• Follows the absent teacher’s written lesson plans.
• Develops and maintains a positive learning environment.
• Consults with the Head of Lower School or Leadership Team to resolve questions and/or concerns, and promptly notifies the absent teacher about special situations.
• Works cooperatively with colleagues and parents.
• Incorporates the effective use of available technology and abides by acceptable-use policies.
• Respects personal privacy and maintains confidentiality of privileged information.
• Ensures staff/student safety; complies with building procedures and schedules.
• Supervises non-classroom duties when assigned.
• Accepts personal responsibility for decisions and conduct.
• Performs other specific job-related duties as directed.
